I have a lot of folks ask about an alternative to the ASP sidebreak scabbard for their baton. I point them to the ASP nylon scabbard. I wish to point out some features of the scabbard that have not been evident or widely advertised anywhere. I updated the description of the scabbard and also added more pictures on its product page.

The ASP Backpocket Scabbards are the finest nylon carriers available for your expandable baton. This Tactical baton scabbard is made of high quality ballistic webbing. Woven to ASP specifications, the scabbard was designed to meet US military requirements. The carrier is made with the same painstaking attention to detail as the best pistol holster. The nylon cord stitching, Vlecro colosure and one-direction snap design provide you with a compact, inconspicuous and yet extremely effective carrier for your ASP baton.

Another great feature of this carrier is that it is made so you can wear your Baton vertically or horizontally. It is worn horizontally by inserting your belt through the backpocket of the case. With this design you could use this scabbard as a shoulder holster for your baton.

Ghillie Suits were one of the first items that we carried at Miles Tactical. Ghillie Suits seem to be increasingly more popular as the years go by and we have increased the quality of our content and have much better pictures of our products.

A ghillie suit that I recently tested was the Bushrag Ultra Light Ghillie Suit. This is a jacket and pants ghillie suit and in my opinion the best way to go if you want a ghillie. The poncho style suits seem to hang up more in the bush and you are definately not as mobile as with a jacket and pants set. The Ultra Light Ghillie Suit and Bushrag’s version of the suit are the best options because of their weight advantage and the synthetic materials they are made of. The synthetic materials offer many advantages over the traditional suits. They are:
•Mildew resistant
•Water-proof Synthetic thread
•Rot-proof
•Mildew resistant
•Fire-retardant
•Washable
•Odor-less & Non-allergenic

One of the best advantages is the increased mobility. You can run and jump like a kangaroo and wonder if you really have a ghillie suit on. It is also important to get the correct size. If the sizing turns out ot baggy this will inhibit free movement. As I wear size 32 pants I found the medium to large size on the bushrag fit best and the size medium on the Ultra light ghillie suit was best. I hope this helps someone choose the correct style suit. If you want full coverage and need to move around easily, opt for the ultralight jacket and pants. For prone positions like in turkey hunting the poncho suits are suitable.

Maui Lava Tube with Pelican 7060 LEDPelican has recently released the new 7060 LED Flashlight. The Pelican 7060 LED Flashlight was created because of a rare collaboration between public and private sectors, the City of Los Angeles Police Department™ (LAPD) got together with Pelican to develop the Pelican 7060 LED as the standard issue tactical/patrol flashlight for all its officers. The Pelican 7060 LED light has new dual switch technology that allows the light to be activated by either a body-mounted patrol switch or a tail-mounted tactical switch. The dual switches, which include a momentary mode, allows the user to grip the light in several positions and still control activation. The light incorporates rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum brightness and are also light weight compared to standard batteries.

The Pelican flashlight is not only popular in law enforcement it is also used in civilian operations. I recently traveled to Maui and was issued the 7060 LED flashlight to explore The Lava Tube on the Road to Hana. I instantly recognized the flashlight and enjoyed testing it throughout the tour. The tail mounted switch allowed for different grips and was not noticed by those using light until I pointed out the feature.
